This image may seem old-fashioned to many, but its intentional. In this technological age and amid the constant rise of economic injustice, we can see that work ethic has significantly declined. However, no matter how technologically advanced the world becomes, the most valuable resource for a healthy society and a developing state is the dignified working person—especially the laborer and the farmer, who nourish our Fatherland with the drops of their sweat.

May 1 is recognized worldwide as Labor Day, but in reality it has nothing to do with the Soviet system or, more broadly, with communism that divides nations into classes. The true holiday for workers should be national in character, because is it through work that we serve our nation every single day.

This day reminds us that serving the Fatherland is not limited to two years of military service. Service to the Fatherland must be a lifelong process for each of us. We must understand that the Fatherland is not served only with rifles, tanks, artillery, and fighter jets, but also with hammers, axes, scythes, and shovels. In times of war, we serve with weapons; in times of peace, we serve with tools.

We, as Tseghakronists, see beauty and greatness in every honest form of labor, which must never be underestimated. We cannot have a true national state if we do not fundamentally change our attitude toward work in society. It is not work that is “menial” or degrading, but rather being a parasitic freeloader. For an Armenian nationalist, work is our strength and honor. Together, we will build and develop our country.

Hail all Armenian workers!
