Beginning in the 19th century, members of the Russian elite in...

Beginning in the 19th century, members of the Russian elite in the Russian Empire, such as Nikolay Danilevsky, Konstantin Leontiev, and Fyodor Dostoevsky, promoted the ideas of Pan-Slavism and Russian imperial expansionism. During the same period, ideas of Pan-Turanism and Pan-Turkism began to spread among the Turkish elite of the Ottoman Empire. At first glance, it seemed that these interests would inevitably clash and contradict one another. Yet, beginning in the 1920s, when the Russo-Jew Bolsheviks came to power in Russia and the Turko-Jew Kemalists took power in Turkey, it became apparent that the ideas advanced by Russian and Turkish intellectuals in the 19th century also had overlapping objectives. As a result, cooperation developed between the two states against Armenia and Armenian nationalism, both of which could obstruct the realization of their strategic ambitions in the region. The creation of an independent, united, and a graeter Armenian state would become a serious obstacle to these ambitions—it would be a thorn on their side.

Both states have sought to expand their influence across geopolitical territories stretching from west to east, often at the expense of the self-determination of numerically smaller nations and the interests of national states. However, the superficial rivalry between them has not precluded mutually beneficial cooperation whenever their strategic interests have aligned.

This is why, alongside examining the positions of political circles in Turkey and Israel, it is also necessary to scrutinize Russia’s anti-Armenian policy. Russia has repeatedly acted in ways that contradict the interests of Armenia’s independent statehood, helping to maintain a situation in which Armenia remains dependent on Moscow and its sovereignty is gradually constrained. One of the clearest examples of this is the Artsakh issue, in which Russia’s policy has repeatedly undermined our national interests since 1991, contributing to a situation in which the conflict was resolved to our detriment and in favor of our enemies, as we saw in 2020. If the so-called “Western Azerbaijan” agenda, which is linked to Pan-Turanian ambitions, is so contrary to Russia’s interests, as pro-Russian neo-Bolsheviks in Armenia claim, then why do Russian officials not publicly condemn the rhetoric of Baku’s tyrannical regime?

Let us recall what Sergey Lavrov said in 2019, when the words “Artsakh is Armenia, period” were proclaimed in Stepanakert. He stated: “The sides are making rather serious statements, including statements that Karabakh is Armenia. Of course, this does not contribute to creating a favorable atmosphere for the resumption of the political process.” In other words, the Kremlin was concerned by that Armenian statement regarding Artsakh. Yet, while Baku’s criminal regime continues to promote the “Western Azerbaijan” agenda at the state level and lay claims to Armenian territory, Moscow has failed to respond with anything resembling the same level of concern. Imagine the uproar the Kremlin would cause if Armenia had a nationalist government today that declared at the state level that Azerbaijan is Eastern Armenia.

The harsh reality is that our treacherous and cunning “ally,” Russia, has repeatedly cooperated with the Turks to the detriment of Armenia’s independence, as also happened in 1920. This time, they seek to eliminate once and for all the prospect of restoring Armenian statehood, using the terrorist state of Azerbaijan as a proxy. Armenia has found itself at the epicenter of the clash and convergence of Russian, Turkish, and Zionist geopolitical interests, while the Armenian people face grave and existential challenges to the preservation of their national rights and security. In short, our Homeland has been placed on the altar of sacrifice, and our nation stands on the brink of a new genocide.

Only the coming third and final collapse of the Judeo-Russian empire, together with the self-destruction of the neo-Bolshevik system operating in Armenia, could create an opportunity for us to finally break free from this wretched Russo-Turkish cage and at last build a fully sovereign and independent state—a Tseghakron Armenia that will become the greatest nightmare of all our enemies.

An Armenian National Revolution — our ONLY solution!

“The Near Eastern objectives of Russian Bolshevism and Turco-Tatar Pan-Islamism coincide and harmonize with one another. The Armenian homeland is being sacrificed for the realization of these diabolical plans.” — Garegin Nzhdeh
