If in a stable state and a regular army, orders from above are not followed, naturally, that system and the country as a whole will soon collapse. However, there are rare (though perhaps not so rare in modern history) fateful moments when following orders would destroy a country, while disobedience would save it. Gurgen Ter-Movsisyan demonstrated this at the Battle of Gharakilisa, and then later, likely inspired by his heroic example, our prophetic Commander Nzdheh, who 104 years ago, decisively disobeyed the order from Yerevan, continuing his relentless struggle against the criminal Red Russian Army and preserving Syunik as an inseparable part of Armenia:

The following is an excerpt from Nzhdeh's lesser-known work "The Free Syunik: Book of Blood":

"On August 10, 1920, the representatives of the Republic of Armenia signed an agreement with Soviet Russia. According to this agreement, the Armenian Minister of War, Ruben, ordered Nzhdeh through Dro to 'gather his troops, as well as all volunteers, and, taking precautionary measures, cross over to our territory (the Republic of Armenia), bringing with him all the weapons.' In response to this document, Nzhdeh noted, 'I confess that nothing in my life has surprised me as suddenly as this document.' With such an approach, the Armenian Minister of War was not only surrendering Zangezur to the Reds but also 'Ararat Armenia.' As for who was supposed to handle the self-defense of the strategically significant Syunik, that was now deemed 'unimportant.' The leadership of the Republic of Armenia had 'greater' political issues than dealing with Syunik.

Dro and Nzhdeh held completely opposing views on the agreement. While Dro was inclined to follow the order unquestioningly and immediately return to Yerevan, Nzhdeh categorically refused in his letter on August 13. More specifically, in his own words: 'By disobeying the order, I saved the Fatherland.'"
