I just listened to this debate and I have to honestly say that both sides said things I agreed with and also things I disagreed with. The so-called "pro-Russian" side insisted that we must participate in the negotiations of the so-called "3+3" format, because if we do not participate, we will be left out of the regional game and other countries will decide our fate for us, while the so-called "pro-Western" wing insisted that we we should not participate in those negotiations, because the West is not involved and if we don't have a big ally from the West (USA or France), we will have a slavish role in those negotiations and they will do whatever they want with us.

Yes, I agree that without participation, others will decide the fate of our country for us, as happened with the Moscow Treaty of 1920 and the subsequent Treaty of Kars, and yes, I agree that without a true strategic ally, we will not be considered a serious factor by those other 5 countries, because now we are in a very weak and divided situation. The problem of all this stems from that main problem, that instead of having a national pro-Armenian government and a solid leader, we have a pro-Turkish, spineless and weak government and leader, which can never advance our real national interests during any negotiations, regardless if they are in the "3+3" format or "33+33" format. Yes, it would be good for us to have a real strategic ally in order to be taken seriously, but if we do not with our own possible resources unite our nation and try to get back on our feet ourselves, we will not be able to have a real ally and will only be considered a proxy by either Russia or the West. We cannot have a true ally if, instead of looking for an ally in a state of strong unity, we seek some kind of master in this weak state to supposedly guarantee us security because of our lovely eyes.

We always come back to the simple truth that a nation that does not put its hope first and foremost in itself will lose all hopes of having a dignified and prosperous future. Forgetting this most important law is why we have often lost in in the geopolitical arena and why our Fatherland has continued to fragment and shrink in size.

And anyone who thinks we can't get back on our feet ourselves, because we supposedly don't have the resources is spreading enemy propaganda that wants to discourage us. We actually have quite a lot of potential that we have never even tried to implement in these last 33 years, because we have had a semi-independence with anti-national leaders. And those who say that we cannot make deals with big superpowers by showing a backbone and the will to fight, let them read history and know how we, after going through the genocide, were able to force the Turks to deal with us thanks to our heroic battles in 1918.

Let their be no confusion, only by putting our hope first and foremost in ourselves can we go from being an object to being a subject and impose our will on our enemies, our region and on the whole world.
