When I was living in California, I realized an obvious truth that at the time was far from apparent to most Armenian-Americans. This truth is that America's best days are behind it because I could see that the country would likely face a civil war someday and collapse from within, much like Rome fell due to its moral and spiritual decline. At the same time, however, I also saw, especially after the Four-Day War in Artsakh, that Armenia was headed toward new wars and very difficult times. This left me with a significant choice: either stay in America and face the challenges that awaited that country or move to Armenia and fight my battle in the Fatherland. That is why I came to the conclusion, which I believe any true Armenian patriot living in the Diaspora should also come to, and made the right and logical decision—to buy a one-way ticket to Armenia.

I regularly talk to my friends living in America, and they are beginning to feel and see what I had felt and seen eight years ago. They, too, are starting to consider leaving America, but when they see that Armenia is in a critical state, they hesitate to take that step. I always tell them what I realized long ago: we cannot escape problems and challenges in this life. The only thing we can do during our short time on this Earth is to find the struggle—the fight—that we believe is worthy of dedicating our lives to with selflessness, because those who constantly try to flee from challenges end up facing even more challenges than those who resolve to overcome the obstacles that truly give meaning to our lives.
