Today, as always, I mark this day as a turning point in my life, because nine years ago...

Today, as always, I mark this day as a turning point in my life, because nine years ago, on this very day, I boarded a one-way flight to Armenia—ready to face every hardship and overcome every obstacle that would stand before me. Year after year, thousands of our compatriots leave the country, trying their luck on foreign shores, while only a handful return. And only a small fraction of those who return truly remain and build a life here, because many grow disillusioned and fail to adapt.

Nevertheless, I have come to understand one simple truth: the land calls only to those who are capable of hearing that call. Even now, people still ask me whether I regret coming back. Sometimes I don’t even know how to give a proper answer, because not everyone sees repatriation as a duty. And for that reason, my decision and the step I took will never make sense to most people.

Perhaps the most honest answer to such a question is this: whoever hears the call of the land has a personal obligation to respond to it, because to ignore that call would be nothing less than a betrayal—both to the Fatherland and to one’s own destiny.
