The Samurai understood what our leaders have never understood...

The Samurai understood what our leaders have never understood — and most likely never will: honor stands above life itself. In Japan, a defeated commander would commit suicide through the tradition of seppuku — cutting open his stomach — because he could not live with such disgrace. This was not madness, but the highest expression of responsibility, courage, and loyalty.

And what about us? After the shameful defeat of the 44-Day War, when a sacred part of our homeland fell under enemy occupation, not a single Armenian general or politician bore that weight with such gravity. Damn it, they didn’t even resign, let alone take responsibility by sacrificing their lives. Instead, they clung to their positions, their salaries, and their comforts — as if nothing had happened. Not one chose the path of death over dishonor. Not one showed the people that such shame can only be cleansed through sacrifice.

This is insanity. Our nation shed blood, we lost land, and yet our treacherous "leaders" — in government, in the opposition, and among the generals — came out unscathed. A nation led by such scoundrels will always suffer losses and face defeat.

Armenia will rise again and carve victories only when its leaders adopt the mindset of the warrior, who knows that to lead means to bear the responsibility of the entire nation — even at the cost of death.
