Over the last 200–300 years, because of Russian policy, a miserable, servile and infamous saying has spread: “either the Russian boot or the Turkish yataghan.” But in reality, by appealing to the Russian boot, we have only brought ourselves closer to the Turkish yataghan.

Our movement’s stance on this matter—which must be the stance of every Armenian nationalist—is very simple: “Neither the Turk’s bloody yataghan, nor the Russian’s filthy boot, only an independent, united, and powerful Armenia.” Some, or even many, may think that this stance is ‘unrealistic’ and ‘romantic,’ but we have seen how, over the past 30 years, the ‘realistic’ and ‘pragmatic’ approaches of the traitorous neo-Bolsheviks and the November criminals have dragged us from a victorious position into ruin. We have seen how their defeatist and anti-national stance has led us to disgrace and humiliation.

Our freedom fighters, who 34 years ago liberated Artsakh through their struggle and sacrifices, would today undoubtedly hold the only nationalist and pro-Armenian stance we defend. In truth, what we say is the most real and rational stance for a small nation that wants to preserve and develop its independent statehood in this hostile region.
