Hayk Nazaryan’s interview with Romanian nationalists...

Today we have the honor of talking with Hayk Nazaryan, the founder and leader of the Armenian nationalist political movement Hosank. Thank you for accepting our request to conduct this interview. We are very glad that we were able to establish an official contact between our movements, as well as very honored to call you our friends. Now, let's begin, shall we?
Absolutely, it is an honor to give an interview that will be read by Romanian and many other European nationalities. Thank you for the invite and interest, this is the beginning of a true comradeship.
1. Probably the most important topic that we'll put into discussion is "Tseghakronism". How would you define this concept to give our readers (or other Europeans in general) a better understanding of it? What are its core principles, as well as the core principles of your group?
Without getting too in depth I can say that "Tseghakronism" is basically Armenian nationalism for the modern era that was created by our ideologue/commander/statesman Garegin Nzhdeh (with the great help of Dr. Hayk Asatryan who received his doctors degree in philosophy from Germany) who fought the Kemalist Turks and the Bolshevik Red Army after the genocide when the Armenia was in turmoil. “Tsegh” means “race” and “kron” means “religion” in Armenian so it is essentially a racial religion for the Armenian nation made to unite Armenians under one ideology and goal of creating a truly independent, united, and greater Armenia which is of course the main goal of our movement as well. The movement I founded and which I currently lead - Hosank has a mission to reach that goal by reviving the ideals of the Tseghakron ideology in the 21st century by turning it into a real political movement. We wish to create a Tseghakron state, because that is essentially the only way for us to realize our dreams.
2. Inside our community, one discussion presents itself constantly. Whether there is a political solution or not. Our group considers that it is vital to engage legally in the political scene, even to the point of becoming a registered party. What are your views on this matter? Is it in your interest for Hosank to become an established party?
I believe we must take the legal path, because there is so much we can do legally to grow our movement and become well known within our own country as a unifying nationalist force. There is so much potential there that we have not even tapped into. Many people talk big about doing a revolution, but are too shortsighted and simple minded to think long term. They say such things, but don’t even take small actions, which basically shows their lack of will and persistence. A hundred years ago the biggest nationalist movements came to power legally without a bloody violent revolution. It is obvious that times have changed and we have more obstacles in front of us, but we also have a lot of advantages that we take for granted. Every era has its pluses and minuses, we just have to be creative and find ways to grow within the system. However, at the same time we are not doing this to chase votes during these relatively comfortable and stable times. I am trying to build the movement on firm and strong foundations, to form a solid loyal core, create a mythos and get recognition from the decent part of our population, so we can be seen as the only viable option when the next great crisis strikes (which will most likely come when Russia destabilizes) in Armenia. This coming crisis, I believe, might also be a global phenomenon, because both the East and West are facing serious internal problems and there are many similarities economically between the 1920s and the 2020’s, and as we well know, a global crisis struck the world back in 1929. It is my conviction, that something similar and even of greater magnitude is going to come in a few years. As for creating a party, we will most likely create one as a branch of Hosank, to use as a “weapon” for when the crisis comes. We are prepared to use all legal means at our disposable to grow. We have to organize and prepare during these calm times so we can be ready to create order out of the coming chaos, which is inevitable.
3. Armenia has a rich and beautiful history. Unfortunately, throughout its long existence, this great country has faced many hardships and struggles, similar to the ones of Romania (the wars with the Turks, the Soviet occupation, the transition to the "democratic" capitalist system, etc.). In recent years, the idea of brotherhood between Romania and Armenia has been promoted in the nationalist and patriotic circles (especially in the football ultras scene). How do you view the modern bonds as well as the historical ties between Armenia and Romania? Would the cooperation between proper political groups make this bond even stronger?
Romania, for us Armenian nationalists, has always been considered one of our greatest allies, and I am honored to be the Armenian nationalist leader of the 21st century to be able to help us build closer ties for our same interests. And yes, I absolutely do believe that the cooperation between our political groups will make this bond stronger, because it will show that we aren’t only tied together culturally and historically, but also politically which makes the brotherhood we have between us even stronger. It seems the fate of our nations are intertwined.
4. This idea of a Romanian-Armenian brotherhood, as perceived in the broader nationalist and patriotic circles, is based primarily on our common Christian faith. Even though Orthodoxy is one of the principles of our group, we still accept other faiths and worldviews that are compatible with the European way of life. In this regard, we are curious to hear what your group's view on religion is.
That is a common question that gets asked and many people want to know if I am Christian or a pagan, and I always respond by saying that I am neither, but both at the same time, since that is essentially what Tseghakronism is. It essentially takes the good ideas from both and discards what it deems as nonsense, forming a modern ideology and worldview that is fitting for the 21st century man or woman. However, we accept devout Christians as well as pagans within our group so long as they understand that our greatest values are nation, fatherland and statehood, and that no religion should be considered above those supreme values. I believe in an Almighty Creator of the Universe that has, with its Life Force, created my race and that Tseghakronism is the way for me to serve my race and the eternal creative process. Our purpose is the Creators purpose and our struggle is the struggle to fulfill the will of the Creator
5. Speaking of similarities, both our countries are fractured. Basarabia was ripped from Romania, while Artsakh is still facing the constant Azeri threat. All true Europeans know the injustice that was brought upon Armenia, but what can you tell us about the situation, and what message would you like to convey to raise awareness of this problem?
Well, without diving too deep into the history and geopolitical situation, I will try to be as frank as possible. Unfortunately Armenia lost control of Artsakh (which was liberated 26 years prior by the blood of our freedom fighters) after the 44 day treacherous war when our army and state were stabbed in the back by our generals and politicians from the ruling party and opposition. Because of that Artsakh was completely ethnically cleansed of Armenians just 3 years later in 2023. Now, in short, the Russian-Turkish-Zionist alliance, always using Azerbaijan as their proxy terrorist state against Armenia, wants to do to the republic of Armenia exactly what it did to the republic of Artsakh. They want to destroy our independence by making Armenia a state not only subservient to Russia, but also to Turkey and yes, even Azerbaijan. The only solution to this is for Armenian nationalists to unite under one organized movement, so when the opportunity comes, the movement can become the state and take the necessary steps required to save our statehood from destruction and our Fatherland from fragmentation. I just want all of our European comrades to know, that this isn’t just a struggle for Amenia, this is a struggle for Europe as well, because we are the only beacon of light in this region and if Armenia falls it will have detrimental consequences to all of Europe, because it will be a great victory for our common enemies. But we are certain that we will not fail and Armenia will not fall. Armenia will rise again, just as we are certain that the Sun will rise again tomorrow.
6. The war in Ukraine is still raging on, and Europe is still divided. Both our countries are rather close geographically to either Ukraine or Russia, and we're influenced to some degree by everything that is happening there. What is your stance on this conflict?
Yes, this is a hard question to answer, because it seems like there is no right answer, especially if you are Armenian, because if you back Russia against Ukraine, then you are a Russophile, but if you back Ukraine against Russia then you are supporting the Ukrainian government that is pro-Turkish, pro-Israeli, pro-Azerbaijan (not that Russia isn’t those things anyhow). Regardless, I feel like my stance should be the stance that every Armenian nationalist should have. We definitely see Russian imperialism and expansionism as a threat to our independence for obvious reasons, especially when it has the intentions of reviving its old Soviet borders, so we definitely do not want Russia to have success in this war, which, as we know, is facing grave dangers thanks to their incompetence and overblown ego. However, we also do not support Zelensky or the current Ukrainian government, because it is also influenced by the Zionists and they show full support to our number one enemy at the moment – Azerbaijan. We simply support the genuine Ukrainian nationalists who are fighting against the Russian armed forces with the aim of preserving their independence, because Armenian and Ukrainian nationalists interests in this manner coincide. We are looking forward to Russia completely losing this war, which will lead to the disintegration of the Russian Federation, just as the Soviet-Afghan war led to the complete destruction of the Soviet Union. That will open a window of opportunity for Armenian nationalists to act decisively and create a true national state.
7. For many, European unity seems to be the way forward, one of the solutions to most of our problems. While A Treia Cale supports this concept wholeheartedly, we are curious to hear if you also think that this European Brotherhood would be beneficial for our countries and societies.
Our movement tries to build close ties with all of our European brothers and sisters, especially those from the eastern parts of Europe, like Romania, since we, like you said, have many shared values and have gone through similar challenges. That is why I say that Hosank is not only a pan-Armenian movement, but also a pan-European one, because we all are facing the same problems and are facing pretty much the same enemy in different guises. Therefore, to answer your question, we should not only want to build a stronger bond between our peoples, we are obligated to do so, because this time our struggle is going to and must achieve victory worldwide.
8. We want to congratulate you for the many successful actions that you held. Given the marches, the gatherings and the rest of your activities, we can safely say that your group counts among the relevant and successful groups in Europe. That being said, what would you consider to be the hardest part in organizing a more complex action, like marches for instance? How important is the conduit of each member during the action?
Thank you for the support, it means a lot that a movement like yours gets inspired by our actions, but unfortunately as of now our rallies that we do out in nature near historic sights has been small in numbers, because we are still growing. I founded our organization four years ago with almost no resources and with no help and nobody next to me as an unknown repat and ordinary frontline soldier, so that’s why it has been a grind. We are completely independent and grassroots, that is why the media here completely ignores us or when they do say something it is almost always in a negative light, especially when we did our first rally and march almost two years ago on New Years Day, celebrating the birthday of our hero, Garegin Nzhdeh. Our whole political arena is almost 100 percent controlled by the Kremlin and they see our small movement as the greatest threat to their control, and they have even cancelled our first conference, which we wanted to hold in a big business center in the capital. In any case, I take such actions against us as a badge of honor, and as a sign that we are on the right path. The hardest part is trying to recruit new members in this phase since Armenia is a post-Soviet republic with many brainwashed citizens who wouldn’t know what real nationalism is even if it got served to them on a silver platter. That is why every single member is important to us, and why we don’t take any support for granted, because appreciate what we have and whatever success we come across. After the loss of Artsakh and the relative “peace” and stability that came after, our people more than ever are completely indifferent and living with their heads in the sand, thinking everything is going to be fine. But we, as farsighted nationalists, know that this is just an illusion that is going to crack in the near future, so we must use this time effectively, to continue organizing, recruiting and spreading our message, so when the time comes we won’t need to go to the people, the people will come to us and I am certain that is what is exactly going to happen.
9. Is there any modern group, movement or party that serves as an inspiration for your image/aesthetics or for the way that you conduct your actions? Even more, when you started Hosank, was there any political entity that inspired you to form the group?
I have personally taken inspiration from the nationalist movements of the previous century as well from almost all the modern day nationalist movements of this century, but I never wanted to copy anyone. As the saying goes: take what is useful, discard what is not and add uniquely what is your own. That is why we have our own distinct symbolism, colors, slogans, flags, banners and uniforms which make us easily recognizable. I wanted to make something uniquely Armenian, by giving a modern touch and bringing to life the ideals of all our heroic ancestors into a solid political movement with strong spiritual foundations.
10. Unfortunately, in most of our countries, we can witness somewhat of a shortage in terms of recruits and quality of men. What is the situation in Armenia in this regard? What do you think European nationalists can do in order to attract more people to our cause?
Yes, unfortunately you are right, and, as I have already said, the situation here is extremely difficult in that regard, that is why I have decided to focus my energy on trying to build a strong loyal core membership of 20-30 young men with a few hundred active or passive supporters and a few thousand passive followers. I think our European brethren should apply this same approach by focusing on quality during these stable and calm times, then focus on the quantity when a crisis strikes. As I have said many times, the coming crisis is inevitable, because this house of cards that was built after the Second World War is doomed to collapse. That will change the political climate in our favor in ways we can’t even imagine right now. What I am saying can be historically proven, because great revolutionary movements achieved success after the previous order fell. As Socrates said: the secret of change is not in fighting the old, but in building something new. We must prepare and ready ourselves so when the storm comes we will be able to ride it instead of drowning in it. That is why I always say Hosank is the lightning in the coming storm. Formed in the shadows, forged by struggle and called by destiny.
11. What do you consider to be the biggest problem in Armenian society? What about in the Armenian political scene? Do you also think that Armenia faces the same problems as other European countries?
Armenia faces many problems, both external and internal. The internal problems are very similar to what many European countries are facing, such as low birth rates, immigration of foreign races, feminism, degeneracy, a totally corrupt and anti-national political arena and other such poisonous phenomena. On top of that we also have very serious external threats mainly coming from the terrorist criminal state of Azerbaijan, which is hell bent on destroying Armenia’s independent statehood. Nevertheless, our greatest problem for us, and I believe for our whole race, is the fact that many decent individuals of our nations are not willing to accept personal responsibility for what is being done to their world, and don’t feel any sense of duty to do anything about it. The majority of them have just accepted defeatism and a servile mindset, because they have been too spiritually corrupted by materialism, comfort and false security. In any case, history has shown us that it is the decisive minority with an iron will and a sense of moral duty who have changed the fate of nations and changed the course of history when the timing was right. No matter how grim everything seems right now, we can never give up so long as we are able to draw a breath.
12. Many people from the diaspora tend to forget their ties to the Fatherland, some going as far as forgetting their roots. But that was not your case, your love for your Homeland never faded. You returned to it, and even fought for it. How would you describe your journey and your struggles? What are the proper measures that should be taken in order to remind our brothers from abroad of their identity and to bring our diaspora home?
Yes, unfortunately the overwhelming majority of Armenians who emigrate assimilate rather quickly while living abroad, but that was not the case with me. Even though I was born and raised in California, I felt a deep sense of calling, that I have a very important mission to complete and a destiny to fulfill in the Fatherland. That feeling grew in me more and more, which is why I finally made my move back in 2016 – the same year the new war against Armenia began (the April Four Day war was the spark) in the 21st century by the enemy coalition. It has been a wild ride and I have faced many obstacles, disappointments and hardships, but that sense of destiny never faded, on the contrary, it grew even stronger after I returned from the war in the fall of 2020, which is why I founded the movement a year later. It has been nine years since I landed in the Fatherland and now it is clear to me more than ever, as to why I made the decisive decision to take that step. I wanted to set an example for all the Armenians in the Diaspora that we must accept personal responsibility for the condition our country is in, and if we don’t like what is going on in Armenia, then we have to do something about it. I guess this is the type of mindset our European brothers and sisters must adopt as well, if they live outside of their own countries and have any patriotic feelings towards their own homelands. Everyone can serve their country their own way, I just know that I have found mine, which is why I will relentlessly go forward until I achieve victory and see in reality the Armenia that I have always dreamed about, or at least plant the seeds of such an Armenia that will emerge in the future.
13. Your life can serve as an example for many. Your education in America, your return to Armenia and, probably the most notable aspect for the people in our community, the time you served in the army, your determination to fight for the land you love. How did this experience influence your ideology and worldview?
I began to adopt a nationalist worldview and considered myself a devout patriot ever since I was 14 years old, even though, of course, I did not have the level of knowledge, experience and wisdom which I do now. I believe if I didn’t possess such an ideology at that young of an age, I would have probably never taken the actions which I took in the future. I lived with higher ideals, which is why I felt out of place and felt like a hypocrite living in a hyper materialistic and hedonistic society right at the heart of California. I knew that my words, beliefs and ideals had to align with my actions or else I would of felt empty inside. I did what I believed every true patriot and decent nationalist must do sooner or later when they see their country being attacked and violated from abroad. For me, living an ordinary life never made sense and didn’t sound appealing at all. I never cared about pursuing comfort or happiness, I wanted to pursue greatness.
14. Our interview is coming to an end. We thank you for your time, and we address you one last question: What would you like to say to our readers? What is your advice for all the European nationalists that will read this article?
I would like to add that it is never too late for us to fight for what we believe to be right. We must always know that the spirits of our heroic forefathers are looking down at us and we have a responsibility to make sure their sacrifices were not in vain. We also have a responsibility to those who will come after us, which is why we must create and secure a future for them that they would be proud to live in. Our future descendants must look up to us the same way we look up to the fallen heroes of our history. We are living in unprecedented times and now is the perfect opportunity to show the whole world what we are made of. We must prove to our people, and also to our enemies, that what we have been saying and preaching for years, and even decades, is the truth and that if we truly want a glorious future for our kind, then we must be relentless and continue our struggle, because there is no other way to victory but ours. Our path is the only one which can bring about salvation for our race and for all mankind.
Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to answer these thoughtful questions. Hope we can do it again later on.
Hail the coming European millennium. This time the World!
Long Live Armenian-Romanian brotherhood!
