A few months ago, I recorded and uploaded a broadcast, one “fragment” of which received tens of thousands of views across our various social media platforms. At first, I didn’t understand why that particular part got so many views and comments, but later I realized why. In the video, Alen Simonyan was simply criticized in a blunt manner (without profanity) for his vulgar comment about the people of Artsakh. It became clear to me because I recalled the words of Socrates: “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people”, which he expressed in the ancient world. It also became clearer to me why the videos of the degenerate “Dog” always get thousands of views. The majority of the population, sadly, only have small minds; that’s why they only enjoy discussions about people—gossip, especially in a profanity-laced style. They’re not even interested in discussing events, let alone ideas.
However, we must emphasize that no genuine national political movement, which acts independently and refuses to become anyone’s slave, can build a solid foundation—a strong core—by discussing only such superficial topics. Individuals or organizations that always present themselves to the public in such a style for the sake of getting more views will only attract short-sighted, petty, ignorant, selfish, and stupid people. Such people can never build a stable foundation, because their entire “ideology” is based on hatred of others. That can never be long-lasting in nature, because people come and go—but ideas remain eternal. A vivid example of this is, of course, the so-called “velvet revolution” of 2018, when people, united temporarily by hatred toward one man, quickly fell apart once that man was overthrown, and the nation became more divided than ever before. Movements built upon noble ideas remain standing, whereas those built against individuals are doomed to collapse like a house of cards.
That is why “Hosank,” though still in its formative stage, mainly spreads ideas and tries to attract people who agree with those ideas—because unless we solve the ideological problem, we will never be able to solve the problems connected to bad events and unpleasant people. All of our social and political problems stem from the fact that true ideas do not reign in the country, and there is still no national state that embodies those true ideas.
Therefore, conscious and decent Armenian nationalists cannot ignore this crucial step. In order to build the national state we dream of, we must develop a national political movement not only by discussing great ideas, but also by putting those great ideas into action—through relentless work and unwavering struggle.
